All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Lisburn, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Ensure you meet any other requirements specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Lisburn office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All rates are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed safely through established payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document its state. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. Late returns may attract extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges accrued during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All car rentals in Lisburn include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options carefully. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses include:
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous conduct. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is also forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purpose and within established passenger and weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside the designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms could lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under Northern Ireland law, Car Hire Lisburn will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total rental fee you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
